Statement

Date: Feb. 27, 2019
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Rep. Kirkpatrick voted to pass the historic Natural Resources Management Act, a bipartisan conservation and public lands package. The package includes The Udall Land Exchange Completion Act, a bill that Rep. Kirkpatrick introduced to the House. The Udall Park Land Exchange will complete a complex agreement made between the City of Tucson and the Bureau of Land Management in 1989. It will convey full title of Udall Park lands from the Bureau of Land Management to the City of Tucson.

"This bipartisan package is a huge win for Arizona and the City of Tucson," said Rep. Kirkpatrick. "The American people believe in protecting our public lands and natural resources. I'm especially proud of the Udall Park Land Exchange Completion Act. This bill resolves an age old agreement and allows the City of Tucson to expand Udall Park. I commend Chairman Grijalva, Senator McSally and Senator Sinema for their leadership."

"Today is an important day for everyone who loves Udall Park," said Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild. "We are another step closer to being able to have the kind of events and amenities Tucsonans deserve at this location. I thank Representatives Grijalva, Kirkpatrick, and O'Halleran, Senators Sinema and McSally, and the Arizona Congressional delegation for their leadership and support for this legislation."
